The Nalerigu District Court has remanded Waliu Fazazi into police custody for his alleged involvement in a brazen mobile money robbery at Bunkpurugu.

According to police investigations, on April 23, 2025, Fazazi, together with accomplices still at large, orchestrated an attack on a mobile money vendor. The group made away with GHC300,000 after approaching the vendor under the guise of making a GHC15,000 withdrawal. During the transaction, two masked men—one armed—appeared, fired warning shots, and forcibly took the vendor’s cash bag before fleeing on a motorbike.

Fazazi was summoned before the Nalerigu District Court on Friday, April 25, 2025, and has been remanded to reappear on May 9, 2025. Police are appealing to the public for information to help apprehend the remaining suspects.

The police have assured the community that they are intensifying efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. They emphasized the importance of community cooperation in curbing such criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents and businesses in the region.
