A Police Inspector stationed at Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region is under investigation over allegations of defilement and incest involving his 14-year-old daughter.

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command, in a statement, identified the officer as Inspector Desmond Owusu Afriyie.

According to the Police, the case was reported to the Agona District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) on November 4, 2025, by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua in the Eastern Region on behalf of the victim.

Police say the victim was referred to a government health facility for medical examination to support ongoing investigations.

The statement added that Inspector Afriyie turned himself in to the Agona DOVVSU on February 20, 2026, where he was arrested and questioned.

After his caution statement was taken, the officer denied the allegations and was subsequently granted enquiry bail, pending further investigations.

The Police Administration has since interdicted the officer to pave the way for investigations into the matter.

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command assured the public that the case is being handled seriously and professionally, adding that updates will be communicated as investigations continue.
