The Ghana Police Service has announced heightened security measures across the country to ensure the safety of the public as Ghanaians usher in the New Year on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police said personnel have been deployed nationwide, with patrols intensified in communities, major towns, entertainment centres and along key highways to maintain public order and protect lives and property during the night’s activities.
According to the Service, traffic officers will be positioned at major intersections to ensure smooth vehicular movement and ease congestion as people travel to and from churches, events and other public gatherings.
The Police further disclosed that special security arrangements have been put in place at venues expected to attract large crowds, including churches, event grounds and other designated locations where 31st December night activities will be held.
The Service has called on members of the public to cooperate fully with officers on duty, remain vigilant, and be each other’s keeper, especially by looking out for neighbours who may not be at home during the celebrations.
Citizens have also been urged to promptly report any suspicious activities to the Police through the emergency lines 0302773906, 18555, 191 or 112 for immediate response.
“The Ghana Police Service wishes everyone a safe, peaceful, and happy New Year,” the statement concluded.
