The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three men in connection with the kidnapping of a 42-year-old man in Wapuli, Yendi District. The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation on Saturday, 6 December 2025, in Bakpaba, a village along the Bimbilla–Yendi stretch of the Eastern Corridor.
The suspects, identified as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi, are part of a four-member syndicate accused of abducting the victim and demanding a ransom of GH¢100,000 for his release.
Police, in a statement, said that after receiving intelligence about the abduction, a team of five officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate was deployed to Wapuli for a surveillance, rescue, and arrest operation.
The officers successfully rescued the victim and apprehended the suspects following an intensive gunfire exchange on Friday, 5 December, the statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Alhassan Luckman Niendow, the Northern Regional Public Relations Officer said.
Authorities added that the fourth member of the gang is believed to have been injured during the operation. Police are appealing to the public to provide information that could lead to his arrest.
The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court.
