President commissions new envoys to represent Ghana abroad

President John Dramani Mahama has formally commissioned a new batch of ambassadors and high commissioners to represent the Republic of Ghana abroad today at the flag stuff house -Accra

The ceremony, held at the Flagstaff House in Accra, marks a significant stage in the diplomatic appointment process undertaken in accordance with Article 74(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

Addressing the envoys, the President stated that their selection was based on character, competence and experience. He emphasised that Ghana expects sound judgement, strategic thinking, disciplined leadership and unwavering commitment to the country’s national interest.

The President urged the diplomats to project Ghana as a dependable partner and a predictable destination for business and tourism, as well as a principled and pragmatic voice in both regional and global affairs.

He further encouraged them to articulate Ghana’s position with confidence and conviction in pursuit of a respected and united Africa.

President Mahama noted that Ghana’s diplomacy must be measured not only by engagement but by tangible results. According to him, their work should translate into jobs, economic growth, enhanced security and measurable benefits for the Ghanaian people.

The envoys have also been tasked to pursue economic diplomacy with urgency by attracting strategic investments, expanding non-traditional exports, promoting tourism, and facilitating innovation and technology transfer.

The President stressed that every partnership built, market opened and investor attracted must serve a broader national purpose.

He reiterated government’s commitment to a renewed agenda anchored on integrity, efficiency, accountability and results-driven governance, and expressed confidence that the envoys will uphold the values and interests of Ghana in their respective postings.
