In his January 1, 2026, address to the nation, President Mahama reflected on Ghana’s progress over the past year and outlined his vision for the future. “One year ago, we inherited a nation in distress,” he said, highlighting the challenges faced by the country. However, he emphasized that through prudent management and reforms, Ghana has made significant strides in recovering from these difficulties.

The President noted key achievements, including reduced inflation, relative currency stability, and growth in sectors like construction, manufacturing, and agriculture. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education, with initiatives like universal health coverage and social housing.

Looking ahead, President Mahama called on Ghanaians to work together, saying, “We are one people, and this reset is for all of us.” He urged citizens to reject divisive politics and focus on nation-building, emphasizing that “the opportunities before us are too precious for us to waste our time and energy in needless conflict.”

The President’s address concluded with a vision of a Ghana where every child can dream big, hard work is rewarded, and the nation is respected globally for its democracy and people. “May God bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong,” he said.
