President of the Ghana Chapter of Women in Maritime in Africa, Mrs Magdalene Ofori Addai has called for all hands to be brought on deck to protect the ocean to prevent resource depletion.

She said oceans are important since it covers 70 percent of the planet, therefore anything that depletes the ocean affects lives.

Speaking to the media after a two-hour clean-up at the Maritime Beach at Nungua to mark World Ocean Day, Mrs Ofori Addai said the Association is worried about dumping of plastic waste into gutters as well as the indiscriminate dumping of other forms of refuse.

She said all these end up in the sea causing damage to marine life.
