The founder and General Overseer of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church, Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye, is reported dead.
A statement signed by his Legal Counsel Alexander K.K. Abban said Reverend Anthony Boakye died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
According to the statement, the popular charismatic preacher and televangelist had been battling with stroke for almost two years now. Rev. Boakye had been absent from church for some time because of his ailment and giving virtual homilies from his base at an undisclosed location until he physically appeared in church on New Year’s Eve to lead the service himself.
The statement said funeral arrangements would be announced subsequently.
The Rev. Anthony Kwadwo Boakye was said to be controversial. He once claimed that he died and resurrected after five days. He has thousands of church members and is noted for providing free bus services for members from various parts of Accra and nearby regions for church activities.
When news of his passing broke, many members of the church trooped to the premises at Ngleshie Amanfro.
