The Ghana Navy has arrested ten Nigerian nationals who were found as stowaways aboard a Panamanian-flagged merchant vessel, Grand Venus, at the Tema Port.
The arrests were made on Friday, 31 October 2025, after naval officers responded to a distress call from the ship.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects secretly boarded the vessel while it was docked at Lagos Port in Nigeria.

The Grand Venus and the stowaways were escorted to the main harbour, where they were handed over to Port Control, the Ghana Immigration Service, and the Marine Police for further investigation.
The Navy said in a statement that additional details would be shared as investigations continue.
