Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union ,GPRTU, Alhaji Ibrahim Abass Moro says the aggrieved 16 Driver Unions have agreed to call off the proposed strike slated for Thursday, November 11, 2021.
This decision he said was arrived at after a meeting with the Transport Minister, who requested the Union to send in a Petition.
Alhaji Ibrahim Abass Moro in an interview, said the strike will however happen next week after the Budget Presentation if the five petroleum taxes are not scrapped.
Alhaji Moro noted that the industrial action is intended to give drivers some breathing space.
They want the government to remove the Energy Sector levy, Price Stabilization levy, Energy Debt Recovery levy and the sanitation levy which contributes to shoot up prices of the product.
Sixteen Transport Unions have since suspended their intended strike over high fuel prices.
