Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has assured the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, and other stakeholders of her support for improved working conditions and increased budgetary allocations, describing adequate resourcing as essential for the ministry to perform its duties effectively.
Addressing concerns raised by the minister over inadequate budgetary support, she said the issues had been noted and encouraged the ministry to optimise the use of available resources.
Speaking during her visit to the ministry on Wednesday, February 5, she emphasised the need to grow the economy in order to expand the national resource base, noting that this would make current budget allocation percentages less restrictive over time.
The Vice President also condemned the mistreatment of workers, particularly those in vulnerable positions, and called for sustained education and public awareness to prevent abuse.
She referenced a previous conference titled Bridging the Gap between Training and Industry and urged the continuation of key initiatives, warning against abandoning existing programmes and “starting from ground zero”.
