The Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has denied claims that the government has sold its 30 percent stake in Vodafone Ghana, formerly Ghana Telecommunications Company.

This follows recent allegations by the MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, that the government has sold the shares for less than $100 million, despite the company’s estimated value of $1 billion.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Monday, December 11, the Sector Minister explained that, while Vodafone Ghana transferred its 70 percent stake to Telecel Group in February 2023, the Government has no plans to sell its 30 percent shares.
