RC Celta de Vigo has finalized the permanent signing of 19-year-old Ghanaian forward Bernard Somuah Sarpong from Asante Kotoko SC, locking in the rising star with a contract through June 2030.
Originally joining on a loan-to-buy deal in August 2024, Somuah’s breakout performances triggered his buyout clause, cementing his role as a key piece in the club’s youth development blueprint.
Somuah’s rapid rise through Celta’s famed “Canteira Celeste” academy has stunned observers.
After a brief adjustment with the Juvenil A squad, he earned a promotion to the reserve team, Celta Fortuna, where he debuted in Spain’s Primera Federación against Zamora CF on the season’s opening day.
Under coach Fredi Álvarez, the explosive winger has become indispensable, racking up over 800 minutes in the third tier.
His five goals highlight his blistering pace and flair in one-on-one battles, turning defenders inside out and earning him a regular starting spot.
Somuah’s magic has fueled Celta Fortuna’s promotion push, lifting them to second place with 48 points.
His highlight-reel moment arrived in a thrilling comeback against Talavera at Barreiro, where he drilled a stoppage-time winner to snatch victory and keep the reserves in historic contention.
