The Ministry of Food and Agriculture is to recruit 2, 700 new Agric Extension Officers this year to help with the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme.
The recruitment comes as the Ministry is in dire need of Agric Extension officers. Presently there are only 1,600 of such officers out of which about 80 per cent are close to retirement.
The Minister for Food and Agriculture , Dr.Owusu Afriyie Akoto, made this known at Ejura in the Ashanti region during a tour of Farms under the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme.
