Shop owners and Tenants at the Accra Mall are set to close their facilities today 24th October 2019, in protest against poor services and high rent.

According to them, the cost of rent at the Mall is unreasonably high, adding that they operate under unfavourable conditions, especially with ongoing repair works at the mall which has taken a toll on their sales.

Last year parts of the mall’s ceiling collapsed, triggering safety concerns and causing a dip in the number of visitors to the place.

Rent at the Accra Mall also costs between GH¢430- GH¢455 per square metre.

The shop owners alleged that efforts to get managers of the mall, Broll Ghana, to renegotiate their rent because of the ongoing repairs, have fallen on deaf ears.

A spokesperson for the tenants, Dr. Emmanuel Ankrah, said they have been forced to protest due to management’s failure to address their concerns.
