The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has announced that the first Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings for the year 2023 will be held from Tuesday, January 24 to Friday, January 27, 2023.

The meetings will be the 110th in the history of the Central Bank.

They are expected to “review developments in the economy”.

“The meetings will conclude with a press conference on Monday, January 30, 2023, to announce the decision of the Committee,” the Bank said in a release on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

After its last meeting in the previous year, the Committee announced an increase in the policy rate for banks from 24.5 percent to 27 percent.

Among the factors considered for such a decision was rising inflation.

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Dr. Ernest Addison is the Chairperson of the Committee meetings.
