The Executive Secretary of the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), Duncan Amoah has kicked against the imposition of a new tax on gas, which has led to an increase in price of the commodity.

According to him, any increase in gas prices will make people resort to the use of charcoal, which will be detrimental to the environment.

To this end, Mr. Amoah appealed to Government to reconsider the eighteen pesewas tax on gas.

“You have consumers already complaining about gas prices being too high, and so when people do have a certain feeling that they are paying too much for fuel or gas whereas they could use charcoal, then you are pushing them to rather resort to the use of charcoal which doesn’t argue well for your environment.”
