The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana, has urged Ghanaians to expect an increase in prices of goods and services effective tomorrow.
According to the Association, the government’s plan to implement the newly introduced taxes from May 1, will affect the cost of doing business, and goods and services will, in the long run, see a marginal increment in prices.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Association, Samson Awingobit.
The statement said with the Ghana Revenue Authority poised to implement the 1% COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy on Monday, the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana, is urging the public to brace themselves up for the possible increment.
Mr.Awingobit said to boost investor confidence, government must come out with policies that will encourage the investor and not deter them.
The Association, however, commends suggestion by a former finance Minister, Seth Tekper, urging government to scrap the said one percent COVID-19 levy in the future, when it manages to recoup monies used during the pandemic.
