The Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, says the establishment of the Creative Arts High School in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Capital, will help fashion out a new portfolio for Ghana’s educational system.

This, he noted, will be the first of its kind in West Africa and will attract students across the globe where they will audition for enrolment into the various arts that interest them.

Dr. Adutwum was speaking at the 60th Anniversary of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools, CHASS, in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital.

He noted that the curriculum of the Creative Arts High School will be tailored towards STEM (Science, Technical Engineering, and Mathematics) education.

President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers, NAGRAT, Angel Carbonu, lamented how second-cycle education is being politicised.

He called on the Ghana Education Service (GES), and the Ministry to urgently come up with a framework to ensure that funds are released to the schools timely and adequately.

The Vice Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University, Professor David Kofi Essumang, commended the government for measures put in place to improve the quality of education in Ghana.
