Asiakwa Salvation Army Basic School: GES in talks with teachers to call off strike

Officials of the Ghana Education Service (GES), are in talks with teachers at Asiakwa Salvation Army Basic School in the Eastern Region, to call off their strike while the GES and the Police find amicable ways to restore calm to the town.

The strike, is as a result of the murder of one of their colleagues last week, by some young men.

According to the East Akyem Municipal Director of Education, Grace Addo, GES is working with law enforcement agencies, to bring the perpetrators to book to serve as a deterrent to others.

She said GES will collaborate with the family to have a befitting burial for the deceased.

A teacher at Asiakwa Salvation Army Basic School, George Somuah Bosompem was attacked and killed by six people in the town last week.

Four of the suspected attackers who are teenagers have been arrested and will appear before the Kyebi Magistrate Court.
