The Director General of the Ghana Education Service, GES, Professor Kwasi Opoku- Amankwah, has disputed claims that the early vacation for some of the First and Second Year SHS students is because of the alleged food shortages in schools.

In an interview, Professor Amankwah explained that the early break for these students is due to a review of the Semester Schedule done in May 2021.

“There are some schools which claim that for them they never got to know of the change that was made way back in May, but a great number of the schools know that, the change has been done and worked in line with that so it wasn’t about the food situation. If it was food then we would have said “this other group that is going just hold on for a while until we solve the food situation then you go.” Professor Opoku- Amankwah explained.
