Africa Education Watch, an NGO has called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to liaise with the Ghana National Fire Service and the various District Security Committees to organize fire prevention outreach exercises in Senior High Schools (SHS).
This follows the spate of fire outbreaks in five Senior High Schools across the country in recent times.
A statement signed by the Executive Director of the Organization, said although the dry season is usually the peak season for infernos, six fire outbreaks in some schools leave much to be desired, especially when students are preparing for their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
It appealed to the Ministry of Education to provide emergency funding towards the provision of temporal residential facilities for the affected schools.
