Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has revealed that 2,000 pieces of furniture will be supplied to Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) by the end of December 2025. He made the announcement during the school’s 65th anniversary celebration, an event graced by President John Dramani Mahama, a distinguished alumnus of the institution.
“Headmaster, be assured that before December 31, two thousand furniture will be delivered to GHANASCO and some other schools,” the Minister assured during his address.
He further announced that the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) will procure additional logistics for wider distribution in 2026. As part of this, GETFund is expected to acquire buses for about 50 schools, including GHANASCO, to enhance mobility and school operations.
The Minister also highlighted efforts to address transportation challenges faced by school heads who lack official vehicles. He disclosed that GETFund had already begun the procurement process to provide the needed vehicles, acting on directives from President Mahama.
In addition, Haruna Iddrisu noted that if the proposed amendment to the GETFund Act is approved, students with special needs will receive free feeding under the government’s education support programme, a new initiative aimed at promoting inclusion and reducing barriers to learning.
The announcements, he said, reflect the government’s renewed commitment to improving infrastructure, mobility, and welfare across the country’s secondary education system, and to ensuring that schools like GHANASCO are better resourced to deliver quality teaching and learning.
