The National Schools Inspectorate Authority NaSIA, has given all pre-tertiary institutions operating in the country up to the end of the year to register with the authority or risk closure.

At a meeting on school licensing requirements in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region the Executive Director of NaSIA, Dr. Hagar Hilda Ampadu, said this is to bring all pre tertiary institutions under one umbrella to monitor their operations and weed out illegal institutions in the country.

The National Schools Inspectorate Authority, NaSIA, was known as the National Inspectorate Board.

It is an autonomous body established by the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (Act 1023). Officials of the authority are on a nationwide awareness creation of the law that binds its operations.

At a meeting with heads of pre-tertiary institutions in Kumasi, officials of NaSIA took the school heads through the registration and renewal process of acquiring a school license as stipulated by the law.

The Executive Director NaSIA, Dr. Hagar Hilda Ampadu said the deadline for all pre-tertiary institutions to register with the authority was February this year, but has been extended to December 2021, due to the impact of COVID-19 on educational institutions.

Dr. Ampadu said the authority will not fail to crack the whip on any pre-tertiary institutions that do not honour the directive.

The National Schools Inspectorate Authority is mandated to register, license and inspect the operations of both Public and Private Pre-Tertiary Institutions in the country.
