FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated Ghana on securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Black Stars booked their place in the tournament on Sunday, October 12, 2025 after a decisive win over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, confirming their position as Group I winners with 25 points.
In a congratulatory video message, Infantino praised Ghana’s achievement as a four-time African champion making their fifth World Cup appearance.
“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history. Your fans will bring colours, style, and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in 2026 in Canada, Mexico, and the United States”; He said.
The FIFA president expressed high hopes for Ghana’s squad, saying the team is expected to produce more global stars following in the footsteps of the iconic squad that reached the quarterfinals in South Africa in 2010.
Infantino encouraged Ghana to savor this special moment as the football world awaits the final tournament draw on December 5.
After falling short at the group stage during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Ghana under coach Otto Addo aims to make a deeper impact in the upcoming edition co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The team is determined to advance further and showcase their talent on the global stage.
Ghana’s rich World Cup history includes appearances in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022. With this latest qualification, the Black Stars continue to solidify their status as one of Africa’s premier footballing nations.
