Finance Minister allocates GH¢150 Million to support Black Stars’ World Cup campaign in 2026 budget

The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, presented the 2026 budget statement and economic policy on the floor of parliament, highlighting key investments that underscore Ghana’s ongoing economic recovery.

Among the notable allocations, Dr. Forson announced that “an amount of 150 million Ghana cedis has been allocated for the Black Stars to participate in the World Cup.” This funding aims to ensure the national football team has the necessary resources to compete effectively on the global stage.

Dr. Forson’s announcement reflects the government’s commitment to supporting sports development as both a source of national pride and a potential economic contributor through sports tourism and related activities.
