Former Education Minister, Lee Ocran dies

A former Minister of Education, Lee Ocran has died.

Mr. Lee Ocran who was also a former High Commissioner to South Africa died on Thursday night at his residence in Accra. That’s according to reports.

Confirming his death in an interview with an Accra based Radio Gold, former President John Dramani Mahama has consoled his wife Setty Ocran who is also an NDC stalwart and the family.

Mr. Ocran died after a short  illness.

Mr. Ocran was appointed Minister by late President John Atta Mills in February 2012 after a cabinet reshuffle following the resignation of Betty Mould-Iddrisu from government and the sacking of Martin Amidu.

He was once the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for the Jomoro constituency in the Western Region until he lost his seat to Samia Nkrumah of the Convention People’s Party in December 2008.

Mr. Ocran was also a former Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress.
