Germany is positioning itself as a key partner in Ghana’s economic recovery, with plans to deepen investment and collaboration across multiple sectors. Ambassador Frederik Landshöft visited the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) on Friday March 13, 2026 to engage with the media and highlight opportunities for cooperation between Ghanaian and German businesses.
Speaking at GBC, Ambassador Landshöft praised Ghana’s recent macroeconomic performance, describing it as “truly impressive.”
He pointed to President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation address, which showcased strong fiscal indicators and economic reforms under the IMF program.
“Germany recognizes the positive momentum in Ghana’s economy. Our companies are ready to support this growth, whether through infrastructure, energy, or logistics,” he said.
He highlighted ongoing German investments, such as the Eastern Corridor road project linking Tema and Akosombo, which is crucial for trade and transportation.
Another initiative involves German financing for Ghanaian family-owned businesses expanding cold chain facilities, a sector critical to Ghana’s food security and economic development. “These are concrete examples of how German investment directly impacts Ghanaian lives and the economy,” he added.
The Ambassador also emphasized the strategic role of the German-African Business Summit, set for November 2026. This biennial event rotates across Africa and is designed to foster business partnerships and knowledge exchange between German and African companies.
“It’s an opportunity for Ghanaian entrepreneurs to engage with European and African investors, strengthening networks that drive sustainable economic growth,” Ambassador Landshöft noted.
Beyond business, Germany remains committed to tackling climate challenges in Ghana, particularly in northern regions. Ambassador Landshöft stressed that Germany is funding programs that combine climate action with security and local development, ensuring communities are more resilient to environmental risks.
In a lighter vein, he mentioned the upcoming friendly football match between Germany and Ghana, describing it as “a symbolic bridge of culture, sport, and friendship.”
Concluding his visit, Ambassador Landshöft urged Ghanaian media outlets to amplify the stories of German engagement in the country.
“Our partnership is multifaceted, spanning education, business, security, and climate, but it often doesn’t get the attention it deserves. GBC plays a key role in telling these stories to the Ghanaian public,” he said.
