Mental Health advocates attending a Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa have been tasked to develop compelling campaign strategies, to be incorporated into government’s social intervention programmes such as health insurance schemes.

In Ghana, there have been calls for mental health treatment to be catered for under the NHIS. LEAP is also a social intervention programme which can also help mental health patients, at least to buy drugs for survival.

Campaign Director of the United Global Health Team, Saskia Dagget, said it is only through striking campaigns that the interest of governments globally, can be whipped-up to fund mental health issues.
