A medical fertility specialist at the Accra Fertility Centre, Dr. Nana Henaku-Larbi, has advised men to stop wearing trousers and boxer shorts that tighten their testicles.

Speaking on GTV’s breakfast show to commemorate World In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Day, the Fertility Specialist revealed that tightening the testicles can cause infertility in men.

According to him, the temperature status of the testicles in men should be lower than the body temperature, so tightening the testicles will damage the testicles.

“Men’s balls hang outside. We wear underwear and tighten it all over the place, and believe me, this is the worst cause of infertility in men,” he stated.

“So that is number one. The reason is that balls need a temperature lower than the body temperature. So if you tighten it all over the place, this is what you will experience, and you will damage it. That is it. It’s part of it,” he noted.

He also advised men to go naked when they are in their various houses.

“I free mine on weekends. As soon as I get home, I remove my clothes, I wear some boxer shorts or nothing. There’s an artiste called Kubolo or something, and he is littering babies all over. This is it. Seriously, he is doing the right thing. Of course, you can not go about letting your balls hang. Unless I am coming to places like this, I won’t dress like that. Ideally, you shouldn’t be wearing anything,” he said.

The specialist also mentioned that sitting for a long period can cause infertility in men.

“That is it. It’s part of it. I had a client who came from London. Apparently, he was driving a heavy truck driver. He says twelve hours of continuous driving and all that. Small breaks of coffee, and I checked the sperm count. So I told him, look what do you do? What work do you do? So it’s all coming from there. If you really want to improve on that, you have to find a new job,” he added.
