The Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in collaboration with the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, has detected and confirmed Poliovirus type 2 from environmental sample in the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region.
As part of measures to prevent the spread of the virus to humans, the public is being encouraged to observe improved personal hygiene and good sanitation practices.
The Ministry of Health assures the public that it is doing everything possible to prevent further spread of the virus.
