Walewale: 3 inmates test positive for Covid-19

Three inmates at the Walewale Prison cell have tested positive to COVID 19 in the North East region.

The Regional Crime Officer, Supt. Reuben Dugah who confirmed this to GBC News in an interview said the three are currently in isolation undergoing treatment at a police cell in Nasia.

He said a COVID test was conducted on some inmates upon a request by the Walewale prisons to the regional health directorate, who were being prepared to be transferred to the Tamale Central Prisons.

He said the test was carried out on January 15 and results received on January 20 indicated three persons were positive.

Meanwhile, the health directorate in North East region has commenced contact tracing of persons and officers who have had contacts with the said inmates for samples to be obtained for testing.
