The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has handed over twenty (20) Nissan Navara pickup vehicles to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) as part of efforts to strengthen the Service’s operational efficiency and nationwide mobility.

The vehicles are expected to enhance border patrols, improve rapid response, and support the effective execution of immigration-related duties across the country.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, Hon. Muntaka said the government remains committed to equipping security agencies with the necessary logistics to safeguard the nation. He stressed that the vehicles must be used strictly for official purposes and called for accountability in their deployment and maintenance.

“The provision of these vehicles is intended to enhance operational response and mobility, particularly in critical areas where the Service plays a key role in protecting our borders,” the Minister stated.

He reaffirmed that the support aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of strengthening national security institutions and ensuring they are adequately resourced to meet emerging security challenges. Hon. Muntaka also commended officers of the Ghana Immigration Service for their dedication and urged them to continue upholding professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Service, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the President’s commitment to resourcing security agencies.

He noted that the vehicles fulfil a pledge made by the President to equip the Immigration Service to effectively carry out its mandate, particularly in the areas of border management and internal operations.

Mr. Amadu assured the Minister that the vehicles would be responsibly deployed and properly maintained to support border patrols and other operational duties of the Service.

The donation forms part of broader government efforts to enhance the capacity of security agencies and strengthen national security infrastructure.
