The Ashanti South Regional Police Command, has arrested a suspect in a deadly robbery which took place at Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down, a suburb of Obuasi.
Rahman Adams, also known as Wale, was apprehended on 18th January 2026 at Pomposo during an intelligence-led operation. The arrest comes after investigations, following a robbery incident at a residence in Obuasi on 12th December 2025, which left a 42-year-old miner dead.
Police say the armed assailants broke into the house by cutting through a burglar-proof window, stealing GH¢2,600, a laptop, and a vehicle ignition key, while assaulting the victim.
Authorities have confirmed that two other suspects, including a Nigerian national, are still at large and believed to have played key roles in the robbery and murder. Items recovered from the scene of the arrest, include hammers, machetes, and cutters.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy, while the arrested suspect remains in custody to assist police investigations.
The police have vowed to track down the remaining suspects and ensure they face justice.
