Supporters of the disqualified parliamentary aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency, Massawudu Mubarick, have gone on rampage in the constituency, setting car tyres on fire.

They have blocked the entry to the Party’s Office in the Constituency to register their displeasure over the disqualification of their candidate.

The party disqualified Mr. Mubarick from contesting the Asawase Constituency parliamentary primaries for the 2020 elections.

The disqualification has paved the way for the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Muntaka Mubarak to go unopposed.

According to a statement issued by the General Secretary of NDC, Johnson Nketia, on September 3, 2019, the decision followed the acceptance of the report of the Committee for Settlement of Outstanding Disputes (the Doe Adjaho Committee) at a Functional Executive Committee sitting.

The Doe Adjaho Committee was established to handle petitions emanating from the processes leading to the selection of parliamentary candidates of the NDC for 2020 general elections.

Three of the petitions from the aggrieved aspirants incl were referred to the Committee, the statement said.

The statement added that two of the petitions relating to Asunafo South and Banda were amicably settled.

But Mr. Mubarick supporters are unhappy with the decision.
