A Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has called for more training for Heads of Senior High Schools since leadership at that level is critical to the success of the double track system.
Dr. Adutwum believes the double track system can ensure qualitative education if students have certified headmasters and headmistresses who have the right skills and knowledge to impart to the students.
Speaking on GBC`s Current Affairs Programme “Talking Point”, Dr. Adutwum said the country already has an appalling school system and government is devising ways of improving it.
Dr. Adutwum said the inclusion of T-VET schools would reduce drastically the number of students at the SHS and called for rebranding of Technical and Vocational Education to make it more attractive to students.
Also on the programme was the founding Director of the Institute of Education Studies, Dr. Prince Armah who said the double track system hinges on quality, access and equity.
There is therefore the need for more reforms in the education sector to ensure quality at all times.
