The Electoral Commission of Ghana has slated Monday, December 24 to hold special voting for the media and security personnel taking part in the referendum.
Chairperson of the Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensah disclosed this at a media briefing in Accra.
She said the special voting will allow such personnel have ample time to do their work on the day of the referendum.
The Commission says it has also made arrangements for the physically challenged on the day of voting.
In a related development, a Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of administration, Dr. Bossman Asare says the total cost of the referendum will be made available just after the elections.
The referendum on the proposed creation of four additional regions is estimated to cost the country around GH¢932 million.
However, answering questions on the cost the whole exercise, Dr. Bossman Asare said the Commission will not spend beyond it’s stipulated budget.
He said they are making sure they spend less on the amount stipulated.
Meanwhile, the EC said all logistics including stationery, biometric machines and other election related materials have been dispatched to all the 4,798 polling stations in the referendum enclaves.
Mrs. Jean Mensah, has assured that total security will be provided by agencies in charge of security on the day of the whole exercise.
Voters in the regions who will participate in the 27th referendum will be expected to vote for or against set questions.
Mrs. Jean Mensah exphasised that voting will start at exactly 7.00am devoid of any hitches and close at 5.00pm. Counting of ballot begins immediately after the close of the polls.
