President John Dramani Mahama has assured residents in the Bono Region that the long-delayed Jinijini–Sampa road will be completed by 2027.

He said the road will be fully asphalted as part of the government’s plan to improve road infrastructure across the country.

President Mahama gave the assurance on Thursday, March 19, 2026, during a visit to the area to inspect ongoing work on the project. He acknowledged that the road has faced several challenges over the years but stressed that the government is committed to completing it.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, said the project forms part of the government’s “Big Push” programme. According to him, the initiative has already created significant employment opportunities.

He explained that nearly 500,000 jobs have been generated through contractors and their supply chains, with some companies employing more than 1,000 workers.

The minister also urged contractors to prioritise local employment, saying the project should benefit communities not only through improved roads but also through job creation. He encouraged the hiring of local workers, including carpenters, masons and cooks.

The Jinijini–Sampa road is a key route in the Bono Region. When completed, it is expected to improve transportation, support local businesses and enhance living conditions for residents.
