Members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament have met with officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to deliberate on Ghana’s current economic situation and ongoing reform efforts.

The meeting, held in Accra at the request of the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, provided an opportunity for the caucus to present its views and feedback on recent economic developments in the country.

Those present at the engagement included Second Deputy Minority Whip Jerry Ahmed Shaib; Ranking Member on the Finance Committee Dr Mohammed Amin Adam; and Ranking Member on the Economy and Development Committee Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

Other participants were Chairman of the Budget Committee Kweku Agyeman Kwarteng; Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Osei-Asare Afenyo-Markin; Deputy Ranking Member on the Energy Committee Collins Adomako-Mensah; and Dr Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, who represented the party.

The IMF delegation was led by Resident Representative Adrian Alter. He was accompanied by AFRITAC West 2 Coordinator Razafimahefa Ivohasina Fizara and IMF Country Office Economist Osa Ahinakwah.

A statement issued by the Minority Caucus on March 16, 2026, described the discussions as constructive and beneficial, noting that the engagement underscores the importance of continued dialogue between Ghanaian policymakers and international financial partners in addressing the country’s economic challenges.

Both sides also emphasised the need for sustained collaboration and open communication as Ghana works to stabilise its economy and implement reforms under the IMF-supported programme.
