Presidential Candidate for the New Force Party, Nana Kwame Bediako, has called for transformative leadership in Ghana’s industrial sector.

In an interview on GBC’s Presidential Encounter program on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Bediako emphasised that Ghana’s current approach to industrialisation is failing its people, leaving the country stuck in a cycle of dependency and missed opportunities.

Bediako criticised the current leadership’s lack of understanding of investment and economic development. “Too many of our leaders are focused on short-term spending and political manoeuvring rather than long-term strategic investment,” he said.

Bediako outlined his vision for a more dynamic and productive economy, stressing the need for leaders who understand how to leverage resources for sustainable industrial growth. “We need to invest wisely in Ghanaian ingenuity and create a robust private sector that drives sustainable development,” he explained.

He also advocated for policies that prioritise local production and value addition, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign markets and create more jobs within Ghana. “We need to create an environment where Ghanaian entrepreneurs can flourish, where innovation is rewarded, and where investment in local industries is seen as a national priority,” Bediako said.

Bediako’s campaign promises to focus on attracting both foreign and domestic investment through transparent and sustainable policies, fostering the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and providing entrepreneurs with the support and resources to thrive.

He believes that this focus on investment and development, coupled with transformative leadership, will put Ghana on the path to true economic independence.
