The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee has announced the successful completion of its nationwide voter album verification and validation exercise in preparation for the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.

At a press conference held on Thursday, November 6, at the party’s headquarters in Accra, the Committee Chairman, Joseph Osei Owusu, said the exercise covered all constituencies and external branches of the party.

Mr. Osei Owusu disclosed that all presidential aspirants will receive the provisional voter register on Thursday, November 13, 2025, to allow for a two-week period of verification and feedback before the final list is confirmed. “The nationwide verification and validation exercise, covering every constituency and external branch, has been successfully concluded. In line with our commitment to transparency and fairness, all aspirants will be given the provisional voter register for verification, observations, and feedback before the register is finalized,” he stated.

He noted that although minor administrative errors, such as spelling mistakes, omissions, and inaccurate entries, were identified, they did not affect the integrity or credibility of the voter register. “I am pleased to report that all such issues are currently being corrected,” he added.

The Chairman further revealed that the process confirmed the removal of delegates who had passed away or lost their membership, in accordance with Article 3(9)(1) of the NPP Constitution.

The five aspirants contesting for the party’s flagbearer slot are:

  • Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central
  • Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Food and Agriculture
  • Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President
  • Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister for Education
  • Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former Press Secretary to President John Agyekum Kufuor

The Committee outlined several measures to ensure transparency and fairness on election day, including:

  • Exclusive control of election security by the Ghana Police Service
  • Strict access control at all voting centres
  • Full supervision of the process by the Electoral Commission (EC)

According to the Committee, the Electoral Commission will oversee the printing, distribution, and monitoring of ballot papers and ensure compliance with operational guidelines to guarantee a credible and peaceful election.

In the coming weeks, the Committee will hold meetings with the aspirants, the EC, the Police Service, and the party’s National Council of Elders to sign a peace pact ahead of the primaries.

Mr. Osei-Owusu reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to a free, fair, and transparent election, conducted “without fear, favour, or bias.” He cautioned party members and the media against spreading unverified information that could erode public confidence, assuring that the Committee will maintain open communication with all stakeholders until the primaries conclude.

“Together, we will uphold the NPP’s proud tradition of democratic excellence and institutional discipline,” he concluded.
