In a show of strong regional solidarity, President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Libreville to witness the historic swearing-in of Gabon’s new leader, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, after his stunning victory in the country’s April elections. The much-anticipated inauguration takes place on Saturday, May 3.

General Nguema secured a resounding victory in Gabon’s April 12 elections, having previously steered the country through a transitional period following the ouster of former President Ali Bongo Ondimba.

President Mahama’s attendance underscores Ghana’s commitment to regional solidarity and diplomacy. It also reflects the enduring bilateral ties between Ghana and Gabon, particularly under Mahama’s leadership, which prioritizes peace, stability, and African integration.

Accompanying the President are National Security Advisor Prosper Douglas Bani, Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama, Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Stan Xoese Dogbe.
