Yilo Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo, and Asuogyaman get new MCEs and DCE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee for the Yilo Krobo Municipality, Francis Addo Akumatey, has received overwhelming endorsement from the Assembly members. He secured 100 percent of the 62 total votes cast, made up of 42 elected Assembly Members and 20 government appointees.

Mr Akumatey was sworn into office by the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, as the MCE for Yilo Krobo.

In an interview with GBC News in Somanya after the swearing-in ceremony, he called on all stakeholders in the municipality to collaborate with him to support the development of the local economy.

Addressing concerns about the poor state of the Klo-Agogo Market, Mr Akumatey stated that the infrastructure challenges facing the market would be tackled under the government’s Big Push Agenda.

He also appealed for peace and unity among residents to help foster development in Yilo Krobo.

In Lower Manya Krobo, the MCE nominee, John Atterh Martey, secured 84.4 percent of the total 45 votes cast, which included 33 Assembly Members and 12 government appointees. Thirty-eight members voted “Yes”, five voted “No”, with two rejected ballots.

In Asuogyaman, the District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee, Godwin Bobobee, received 42 “Yes” votes and nine “No” votes, representing 83 percent of the ballots cast. He was also sworn into office by Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey.

Speaking to GBC News in Atimpoku, Mr Bobobee noted that his administration would leverage the district’s tourism potential to promote development.

On the issue of unemployment, he reiterated his commitment to work with relevant stakeholders to revive Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL) in order to create jobs for the youth.
