Young Women participation in politics across the ECOWAS Region is said to be on the decline as they are still being discriminated against by their male counterparts.

For this reason the Gender Centre for Empowering Development (GENCED) has launched a campaign to dialogue on the best ways to get young women into politics.

The Director of the Department of Gender at the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection, Dr Comfort Asare, who opened the forum said there is the need for Civil Society Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations, Government and political parties to come together to draw up strategies to ensure that more women especially young ones contest for political and other leadership positions in society.
