Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary 1980 Year Group Old Boys’ Association (POJOBA) has handed over an ultra-modern conference facility aimed at boosting the educational development in the school.

The one storey 450-thousand-cedi project which include a fully furnished conference hall, a six-seater washroom, and a new headmaster’s office was executed within a five-month period.

At a short ceremony on campus, the POJOBA Alumni Project Chairman, Air Vice Marshall Mike Appiah-Agyekum, explained that the facility was funded through contributions from members both home and abroad, adding that it also serves as part of the 60th Anniversary celebration of the school.

He said the group wanted to give back to the school in a way that will serve both staff and students for years to come. The project represents their gratitude to the school that shaped them, and hoped it inspires other year groups to do even more.

Air Vice Marshall Appiah-Agyekum appealed to the school management to use the facility for the intended purpose and also maintain it to last long.

Receiving the keys, the Headmaster of Pope John SHS and Minor Seminary, Rev. Father Benjamin Opoku Ohene, described the gesture as timely and significant, especially as the school continues to grapple with infrastructural pressure due to rising enrollment.

He appealed to other stakeholders and alumni groups to emulate the example and help address critical infrastructure deficits in the school.

The National President of the Old Boys’ Association, POJOBA, Isaac Aboagye Duah, also commended the 1980 Year Group, describing the project as a demonstration of unity and commitment to the school’s development. He indicated that POJOBA continues to thrive because of the dedication of its old boys.

The project he said shows what can be achieved when they come together and encouraged other year groups to invest in the school’s growth.

The ultra-modern facility is expected to become the school’s main centre for meetings, seminars, and administrative activities.
