Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim has highlighted that, the President, John Dramani Mahama has proven beyond reasonable doubt that, democracy is still viable and can be achieved with the right leadership and policies.
“President Mahama has proven that democracy is still viable with the right leadership and policies and that’s what places him in a unique position”, she said.
Speaking on the GTV breakfast show on Friday, January 23, 2026, Muslim noted that, for Ghanaians to continue to preach democracy as the most sustainable governance option, examples are needed for which President Mahama has shown commitment to fostering a good democracy.
According to her, it tells a good story for President Mahama to have been able to turn the economy he inherited he inherited around within a short time.
Addressing democracy in neighboring counties, she added that, many democracies are fast becoming military regimes giving the notion of a tiredness for democracy that seems not to be delivering real transformation. She stated that, President Mahama however has been able to commit to democracy with the right policies.
