About two weeks ago, some Head Teachers of Public and Private primary schools in the Adentan and Madina Education Directorate wrote letters to parents seeking their consent to administer dewormers and vaccinate the pupils against Bilharzia.

Guardians who could read and write agreed for their wards to be given only the dewormers since Bilharzia does not occur in this part of the country.

But some parents who could not read did not stop the school authorities from administering the Bilharzia vaccine on their Wards.

Reports reaching GBC’s Radio Ghana indicate that the children who received both vaccines are reacting to the vaccines and have been taken to health facilities.
