The West African Health Organization (WAHO) successfully convened the inaugural Regional Working Group Meeting on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for Finished Pharmaceutical Products (FPP) for human use, held in Cotonou from January 19 to 21, 2026.
This meeting marks a critical step in WAHO’s ongoing initiative to facilitate and advocate for the implementation of national GMP Roadmaps across member states.
The session provided a strategic platform for national regulatory authorities, industry representatives, the West African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (WAPMA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and appointed GMP experts.
These sessions serve as a platform to assess the status of the GMP roadmap implementation Plan, identifying constraints and necessary solutions and prepare the development of a cohesive National Strategy to strengthen pharmaceutical manufacturing standards
