Technical Universities urged to focus on skills training mandate

A Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor Domwini Kuupole, has charged management of Technical Universities to focus on their skills training mandate rather than competing with the traditional Universities.

He urged Heads of Technical Universities to change their outlook and re-strategise to position Technical Institutions to meet the changing trends of Science and Technology.

Prof Kuupole was the guest speaker at the 3rd Ho Technical University Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

Professor Kuupole said with the country’s quest for industrialisation, there is the need for Technical Universities to produce highly skilled human resource for the industrial take off.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Prof Ben Hoenyenuga, reiterated management’s drive to run the institution as an Entrepreneurial University by providing services to communities in its catchment area to generate income.

Prof Kuupole was presented with a citation for his achievements and contributions towards the development of the country’s education system.
