Uruguay forward Luis Suarez has opposed the calls by many Ghanaians to apologize for his deliberate handball during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The former Liverpool marksman intentionally stopped a goal-bound ball with the hand in a quarter-final game to deny the Black Stars from progressing to the semi-finals.

Facing the press ahead of a repeat fixture tomorrow in the ongoing World Cup in Qatar, the Club Nacional forward says the call for him to render an apology to Ghana is wrong.

“I don’t need to apologize. I’d apologize if I injured a player, but in this situation, I handled a ball, I take a red card and the Ghana player missed the resulting penalty. It’s not my fault. I didn’t miss the penalty. It’s not my responsibility”

Ghana faces the Sky Blue in the final group game in the search for her knockout stage appearance since 2010.
